Updates

Wow, what a short week it was! Although it was a short week, we were still able to accomplish a lot in our classroom!

In math, we learned the traditional method of division. The kids can choose to solve division problems in 4th grade using partial quotients or traditional division. This week we will work on solving division word problems. Again, I ask that you make sure your child is practicing their math facts at home.

In reading, we are studying social issues in our books. We've practiced identifying the social issues, discussed what is fair and unfair, and discussed what factors influence the characters in our books. We will begin social issue book clubs this week.

In writing, students finished their persuasive essays.  We will begin our second nonfiction writing unit next week. We will be creating a book all about the Industrial Revolution.

In science, we began studying sound.  We learned that sound travels in waves and that light travels faster than sound.

We had a Mystery Skype with a classroom in New York last Thursday!

Donations Wanted

With the cold season upon us, our classroom would love donations of soft tissues and sanitizing wipes.
