IXL sign on

There has been several questions about the log on information for IXL.

Our link for Stratham is www.ixl.com/signin/stratham

The username and password SHOULD be the same as their google sign in without the 5. For example, my username would be ktingle24.  However, there have been some cases where the username and password is different than their google information. If your child is not able to get on at home, please do not hesitate to email me and I can provide you with their username and password.

We are quickly collecting stickers on our class graph from all their hard work! :)

Thanks!

Week #4

Here's a peek into our week in 4T!
  • We set year long reading goals. We also discussed the importance of keeping track of our reading every day and students began reading logs.
  • We continued to brainstorm story ideas by thinking of strong emotions in our lives and stories we wish existed. Everyone chose an idea that will be developed into a published story! I can't wait to continue the writing process.
  • We learned about the scientific method and discussed how science is like a pinball machine.
  • We started Words Their Way. We learned how to do both a sort & write and blind sort this week.
  • In math we learned about the importance of estimation. We also started a class graph of our IXL progress. Students have been doing an amazing job mastering levels related to our unit!
  • Qwerty Town typing was introduced. If your child goes on at home, encourage correct placement of fingers on the keyboard.
Questions to ask your child:
  • What seed idea are you going to develop into a story?
  • Why can science be compared to a pinball machine?
  • What is your goal for reading this year?
  • About how many pages do you read each day during reading?
  • What did you do this week for 4th grade activity?
  • Why is it important to estimate?
  • What is your favorite morning meeting activity?

Classroom Information:
  •  Mystery Reader Please feel free to add your name! We love our Mystery Readers!
  • Parent Teacher Conferences  - If you have not signed up for parent teacher conferences, please add your name next to the time you'd like.
  • If you have not subscribed to the blog, I encourage you to do so. You will automatically receive an email when new posts are made.
  • Our first field trip will be to Old York in October. It is encouraged that children & adults dress in colonial attire.
Our class has received so many compliments already on how caring, cooperative, and respectful they are to each other and adults in our building. I am very proud of each one of the students in 4T! :)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I spent mine in Burlington, VT, apple picking, hiking, and enjoying the cooler weather.

Week #3

Here's a quick peek into our week together.
  • We started our first unit of math. We reviewed place value, rounding, and comparing multi-digit numbers.
  • We continued to use our writing journals to collect seed ideas for stories. We also spent time writing on Kidblog.
  • We watched videos of scientists and discussed what it means to be a scientist. We found out that scientists are really just normal people. They don't all have crazy hair!
  • We spent time writing about our reading and finished our first read aloud, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing
  • We celebrated Dot Day and learned that everyone can leave their mark on the world.
  • We ended the week with 4th grade activity!
It was nice to meet so many parents at Curriculum Night. I know it can be hard to get your child to talk about their day so here are some questions you can ask to promote a conversation!
  • What is Kahoot?
  • What are you writing about on Kidblog?
  • What book are you currently reading?
  • What happened to Dribble in Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing?
  • What types of jobs to scientists do?
  • How can you use QR scanners in math?
  • What was your favorite math game this week?
  • What did you do at 4th grade activity this week?
Here's a great blog post about the benefits of Kidblog.

There will be an early release on September 23rd.

Enjoy the warm weather this weekend!

Week #1

We had such a great first week in 4T! I can already tell that we are going to have a great year. We spent the week getting to know each other, completing team building activities, and learning about our classroom routines. We also had our first 4th Grade activity period! Each Friday we will go outside to play games with the entire 4th Grade to get to know students in other classes. It was a fun week with lots of laughs & smiles.

I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Fingers crossed for cooler weather :)

Here are some photos from our week!
