- We set year long reading goals. We also discussed the importance of keeping track of our reading every day and students began reading logs.
- We continued to brainstorm story ideas by thinking of strong emotions in our lives and stories we wish existed. Everyone chose an idea that will be developed into a published story! I can't wait to continue the writing process.
- We learned about the scientific method and discussed how science is like a pinball machine.
- We started Words Their Way. We learned how to do both a sort & write and blind sort this week.
- In math we learned about the importance of estimation. We also started a class graph of our IXL progress. Students have been doing an amazing job mastering levels related to our unit!
- Qwerty Town typing was introduced. If your child goes on at home, encourage correct placement of fingers on the keyboard.
Questions to ask your child:
- What seed idea are you going to develop into a story?
- Why can science be compared to a pinball machine?
- What is your goal for reading this year?
- About how many pages do you read each day during reading?
- What did you do this week for 4th grade activity?
- Why is it important to estimate?
- What is your favorite morning meeting activity?
