Updates!

I hope everyone is staying warm on this cold day! We had a great week in 4T. Here's some of the learning that we did.
Math: We calculated the area of combined rectangles, solved multi-step number stories and learned the traditional method for multiplying. We will spend this week mastering multi-digit multiplication before our test at the end of the week.
Science: We continued to study erosion by simulating a flood in our erosion trays. We also looked at photos of erosion in the world around us and methods that have been developed for controlling the rate of erosion.
This week, students will develop their own plan for controlling erosion and test their ideas in the erosion trays.

Reading:  We wrapped up our social issue book clubs. Almost every student decided they wanted to continue being in a book club with their peers so they began a new realistic fiction book! It's great to see the students so excited to talk about books with their classmates! We also spent time practicing responding to  reading by writing about our ideas, questions, theories, and connections.

Writing: We wrapped up our winter stories by editing and revising, creating cover illustration, and a title page!

We had a great trip to Concord! The students were lucky enough to be able to meet Governor Hassan. When we returned, we shared our Valentines, enjoyed some delicious sweet treats, and played games. It was the perfect way to end our week!

Five days to go until February break!
