In science, we finished our unit on erosion. Students designed their own experiments to control erosion. Each design was different and although they were not all successful, we were able to learn from each one!
In math, we wrapped up Unit 4 by designing a floor plan of an apartment. Students needed to calculate the area and perimeter of each room and then use real floor samples to determine the cost of flooring for their apartment. Many students were shocked to learn how much it costs to put in flooring in a house!
You may notice two separate grades on the math test. I encouraged students to do test corrections today to learn from their mistakes.
In writing, we learned about nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. We spent time writing "strong" sentences and writing creative stories. We also learned strategies for editing our work.
In reading, we continued to practice writing and talking about our reading. We were also lucky enough to curl up and read today with our furry stuffed animals!
