Reading-The best part of the week was holding a classroom debate! I have to admit I wasn't sure how it would go or if the students would get into the part. They blew me away! Every student participated and was passionate about their arguement. The teams worked together to argue their points. It was such a fun way to showcase their learning about the Industrial Revolution! One student even said, "I didn't even realize we had learned so much!"
Science- This week was all about magnets & electricity! Can you make a magnet float? We found out you can! We also discovered that magnets can make paperclips magnetic. We learned about static electricity and learned that you can light a bulb with just a wire and battery. It was a very fun, hands-on science week!
Math- We began unit 6 which consists mostly of division. We started the week by practicing our division facts. Similar to multiplication, we will do partial-quotient division before traditional division. I ask that you encourage your child to solve the problems how they learn in class as it fosters an understanding of place value. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. Here is a link with a video on partial-quotients.
